Ganesha Chaturthi 2023 Rituals
Ganesha’s sculptures are crafted in a variety of postures. Lord Ganesha features an elephant-like head, four clumsy hands attached to a protruding abdomen, and each hand is clutching a special emblem. Devotees represent Ganesha in their way, Lord Ganesha is depicted holding a trishul (trident) in one hand, an ankush (goad) in another (made from his own broken tooth).
A lotus in the third (which is sometimes replaced by modaks, his favorite sweet), and a rosary in the fourth (which is sometimes replaced by happiness).
His huge ears are said to represent hearing from God, and his high forehead is said to represent the development of tremendous intelligence.
Ganesh Puja 2023 Public Events
Two to three months before the event, artistic clay models of Lord Ganesha that range in size from 3/4 of an inch to over 25 feet (ca. 8 m) tall are created.
