The gods and goddesses are served prasad, a concoction of rice flakes, sesame seeds, jaggery, ghee, and sugar, along with oil, flowers, coconuts, and sandalwood during puja Samagri

Abhyang Snan is especially significant on this day since it is said to help people escape Narak Darshan.

As part of the Narak Chaturdashi ceremony, applying oil and an herbal paste to the body in the morning symbolizes purging impurities.

The tradition calls for applying Ubtan, a specifically made herbal paste.

In addition, individuals worship or observe Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna, take baths before dawn, and utilize the leaves of the Chirchita plant.

It is thought that by adhering to these customs, one might purify their body and wash away their sins, increasing their beauty and lengthening their life

It is common for individuals to anoint themselves with oil in the morning on this day, and for ladies to use a herbal paste to improve their appearance.

Yamaraj is the God of Death, worshiped by followers who recite mantras, take baths, and submerge black sesame seeds in water.

The history behind Roop Chaturdashi

It is said that Narak Chaturdashi celebrates the victory of good over evil

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna rescued over sixteen thousand Gopis on this day by defeating the demon Roop Chaturdashi.

Hindu scriptures state that once Lord Krishna freed the Gopis from Narakasura’s control, he recognized each of them as their husband.

People observe extraordinary rituals on the occasion of Chhoti Diwali or Roop Chaturdashi, which involves worshiping Lord Krishna and Bhudevi as Goddess Satyabhama.

2023 Abhyang Snan on Narak Chaturdashi

Diwali is a five-day festival that begins on Dhantrayodashi and ends on Bhaiya Dooj. During Diwali, Abhyang Snan is recommended on three days: Chaturdashi, Amavasya, and Pratipada.

The most important one is Abhyang Snan on Chaturdashi day, also called Narak Chaturdashi.

People who do Abhyang Snan on this day are said to be able to escape visiting Narak. During Abhyang Snan, Ubtan should be prepared using til (sesame) oil.

On Narak Chaturdashi, Abhyang Snan may fall on the same day as Lakshmi Puja in the English calendar

Narak Chaturdashi and Lakshmi Puja happen on the same day when Chaturdashi Tithi prevails before dawn and Amavasya Tithi prevails after sunset

Abhyang Snan is performed every time the moon rises, but before dawn, on Chaturdashi Tithi.

Significance Of Narak Chaturdashi

On this auspicious day, people worship Goddess Kali to rid their lives of bad energy and the influence of wicked spirits

Worshiping Maa Kali on Narak Chaturdashi may help you drive off ghosts, evil spirits, and other negative energies from your home.

One may eliminate bad energies from their life by doing Puja at home. On this day, a lot of Hindus absolve themselves of their sins by performing Abhyanga Snan.

It is stated that those who conduct Abhyanga Snan on this day may escape having to travel to Narak

On Narak Chaturdashi, people commemorate Lord Krishna and Satyabhama victory over the demon Narakasura.
